Hello all, my name is Jeff Altman. I am a 6th grade teacher in the Syracuse City School District and have been involved in the adventure business for about fifteen years. It all started in the mountains of Montana working with at-risk teens in the outdoors teaching them positive ways to have fun and how to manage their frustrations. We instilled leadership qualities, teamwork, accountability, taking healthy challenges, and a love for the outdoors through many activities, such as fire making, team initiatives, high/low rope challenges, camping, fly fishing, and climbing. The “outdoors” is needed now more than ever in our world. This is shown through the alarming increase of overweight children. Children do too much sitting around and watching TV or playing video games. I am committed to showing young people of all ages that there is still fun to be had in the great outdoors.
